Used system restore / hard reboot to get my old HP back up and running the other day only to discover that it auto-downloaded again ( first time it downloaded when I shutdown the computer ) during the night last night ! News was that MS halted these updates - what gives ? Computer is working but I fear BSOD / no connection to internet network trouble again . Any info out there ? Is it possible to uninstall KB4056894 ?

You might want to consider turning off Auto Updates, that is, until you're ready to update Windows, and then turn it on only for the update process. Then off again.

Thanks for the reply and the info .

I did switch off auto-updating yesterday . I own 2 PCs - both made for Japan . While I can speak Japanese quite well , reading it , especially when it involves computers which I don't know much about to begin with , is quite a challenge , so my Japanese wife is going to have to uninstall and then hide this troublesome update causing computer havoc all over the world . If I do a search in Japanese I'm sure there will be the same tutorials available in Japanese . Cheers -
