Hello-

I have Win7 Home Premium and as mentioned above do not have Local Users and Groups control.

What I am trying to wrap my head around is (1) why I dont have total control as the administrator of my computer and (2) how can I get control.

Do I have to spend extra money or have to upgrade to different Win7 OS (or ??) just to get total control of my computer.

Please any help is appreciated.

Hello Rick,

From your screenshot, your account is not locked. The lock overlay icon on a folder just means that is set to be shared by "Nobody". That's all. :)

Brink Thanks

How come when i try to access it it says I dont have permission to do so.

Am I trying to access it the wrong way?

How can I get my accounts set so I can access them?

I have win7 HPrem, I don't see Local Users and Groups control within the Admin Tools - How can I have CP add that ability in Win7 HPrem?

UPDATE-

I have shared the folder now (and all HDD's) to myself with appropiate permission levels. Just seems weird that I have to go in and set permission levels for myself and my drives/folders because I log in as Admin on the computer.

Did I set it up incorrectly or is this a default MS Win7 configuration when the drive is created/added for the first time?

If not much else comes of this thread, would really like to have the ability to view and manipulate my Local Users and Group from Admin Tools.

You will not be able to add "Local Users and Groups" to a Windows 7 Home Premium since it's not available for that edition.

Are you getting this error when you try to open your C:\Users\HoSoon folder? Does it give you a prompt to click on Allow to then be able to open it?

If this has just recently started, then you may be able to fix it by doing a system restore using a restore point dated before this started.

Ya, it asks me to allow me to view it. After I read your post it cleaned the foggy windows. I shared it to me and it stopped the foolishness. Was hoping there was sanity in Win7HP but alas....

Off hand and Your take on this - Is (and I hate what I am going to say - it just goes against all common sense and past practice) the Win7 upgrade to allow access to these types of things worth the money and hassle or is there a 'different or modified' way to do this?

I should really proof read B4 i hit Save!

I always prefer to do a clean install of Windows to avoid any potential issues from a upgrade.

It looks like some sort of permissions or profile issue may happened from the upgrade between the previous OS and this one.

Thanks - Nvr did an OS upgrade, hence the comment on hating to think about doing it.

I prolly shouldn't have broken up the sentence with the parenthesis's. Seems stuck I am. Unless there is a another way.
