Why mustI use Ctrl-leftclick to goto a link,instead of just leftclick?

Hi all, I'm new here. Seems like a very useful forum!

Months ago on my Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit system, I used to simply click on a link (left click), and the browser (Internet Explorer 10) would either go directly to that website in the same window, or open a new window for that website. That was fine with me, and is probably what nearly everybody does.

But a few months ago, that stopped working. When I left-click on a link, nothing happens. If I hit CTRL-leftclick, then a new tab forms at the top of the screen, but the system doesn't automatically go to that tab and open the window. I have to actually click on that tab next, to open the window. Then the website pointed to by the link, appears, and pretty much works properly after that.

But I'd much rather have it back the way it was. How to I get it to go directly to the link as it once did, simply by a single leftclick on the link?

Welcome to Seven Forums LilAbner. It almost sounds like a silent popup blocker, or perhaps an addon. I don't use IE10, so am unsure whether there is a Internet Explorer (No add-ons) in All programs> Accessories> System tools?

If not, you can manually disable add-ons and extensions to see if one is causing this behavior.

A clean start as suggested by ThrashZone is also a good idea. You might also try Safe mode with networking and see if the behavior exists there as well.
