Hello,

I use sometimes outlook to retrieve my emails but all spam email are also fetched, even after I mark them as Junk email in outlook.
So I am wondering why the filter antispam in outlook (junk mail blocker) is not efficient?

Thank you

It would rather give you junk than block something important. Depending on your account, ie: Gmail/yahoo the spam filters tend to change quite a bit. For an all inclusive spam filter to email, you're going to spend some bucks.

Thanks Brady. I have hotmail and gmail accounts. The problem is specially with hotmail account, lesser with gmail.

Yes, as Microsoft themselves say, the err on the side of caution and would rather deliver a bit more junk to avoid false positives than to potentially cause legitimate mail to fall through:
Fighting Junk Email
It is worth noting that hotmail blocks over 4 billion spam messages daily, but they've always been a bit more conservative than other services (like gmail). Filtering on the client is also possible, of course, but make sure you're installing the Outlook updates for their mail filter regularly if you're going to use that (and follow the recommended configuration settings too, when possible.).

I'm actually quite interested in when Hotmail will publicly switch over to using their own Forefront email scanning rather than Symantec Brightmail (which I've never liked), as I have used the Forefront product on Exchange and it works MUCH better. They'd be wise to do so the next time they upgrade the Exchange backend behind Hotmail, IMHO.
