Why Upgrade to Windows 10?

I used windows 7 for the entire time, it was great, all square. I loved it.

I tested windows 8 and rejected, it did not suit me. I did not hate it, just did not use it.

I tested windows 10 and did not look back to windows 7 anymore. With some earlier builds I have some disliking, only from the part of the GUI, but the last two versions made me completely happy.

The "windows aero" theme based on glass transparency? Initially for a few days.

Aero includes many other things in its definition other than the theme only. Like ...
Win+Tab action;
Live thumbnail preview on taskbar;
Aero Peek;
Aero Shake;
Aero Snap;
and a couple more features. All those are nicely accessible if a non-transparent theme is applied, and my theme was Placebo. No glass.

All are there other than the "windows aero" theme. And the desktop environment in windows 10 is good enough than windows aero theme applied in 7.

We discussed on the same thing earlier too, but you are not understanding. Resistance to change? OK, dont change then, but dont spread that meaningless resistance. Let the people try and decide.

I have never hated a operating system. My hate is much to important to waste on a operating system. I have some choices and I like choices.

Windows 7, Windowds 8.xx or Windows 10. Or I can use them all if I so desire.

I went from XP-Pro to Windows 7 just to try out Windows 7. I like it so I stuck with it.
In a couple of weeks I felt comfortable with Windows 7 and just started learning more.

I checked out Windows 8 when it first came out and didn't care for it. No big deal. Many like it and use it.

I haven't made my mind up about Windows 10 but there is no big hurry. I'm not going anywhere and Windows 10 will be around for a while.

The learning curve from XP to Windows 7 was easy for me. I hope going from Windows 7 to Windows 10 will also be easy. I really don't need headaches.

If I wait a little while the Tutorials in the Ten Forum will be built up and will probable answer most of my questions.

Honestly... all the annoyances from W8 are gone in here, Windows 10 seems to be better in terms of productivity, at east, the start menu now works very similar to what W7 was... search works like it did, and finally, FINALLY, they restored some shortcuts, like the one on the network icon leading you directly to the private/public network switch config, something missing in Windows 8...

The only gripe I see is that Start seems to act... weird sometimes... there are times it won't show even if you click several times... that and the full screen start menu... why did they change the way it worked on Windows 8? I mean... the way it works alike-Windows 7, it's nice and steady... but the full screen thing... is just SO pointless, misses funtionality, and there is SO MUCH wasted space, even for tablet users. MS guys never hit the spot it seems...

Also, is just me or biuld 10130 is the most unstable thing in their whole time? even explorer crashes when loging off... why? 10074 was already there, this feels like a step backwards... I really hope they fix this, because I have better hopes with this than I had with Windows 8...

Yes, they need to be applied. Either by replacing system files, or, using Theme Manager.

10130 is running rock solid here. If it gives some issues to you, perform a clean reinstall. I had issues with one previous build, but a clean reinstall solved everything.

10130 is running rock solid here. If it gives some issues to you, perform a clean reinstall. I had issues with one previous build, but a clean reinstall solved everything.

Clean installed twice (I don't believe in upgrades...), manually creating all partitions using diskpart (system, windows and another extended/logical for data) first using audit mode to install all stuff and then booting into OOBE (practicing with this what I normally do with new installs), in there, I had to hard reset the system because it never loaded the desktop the first time.

The second time was the same, except I skipped Audit mode and went straight to normal install entirely. In both cases, I got a critical error as soon as desktop was loaded, rebooted and seemed to work, but explorer crashes everytime you shutdown/reboot/logoff.

Could it be that I'm testing on a Virtual Machine instead of a real PC?... Weird thing since 10074 didn't exhibit this issues...

That explorer crash when you shut down or restart windows 10 build 10130 is a known problem. It doesn't matter if it is an upgrade or a clean install. I did read you can restart or shutdown by other methods to avoid that problem.

I remember the "Super Menu" AKA Start Contextual Menu works for that, just right click, shutdown, choose whatever you want, no errors found... I didn't use it too much besides reaching CP, Disk Mannagement and such...

I've been using it since October and it's a better OS than Win7 and clearly a worthy successor.

However there are still some beta bugs and instability so I hope its ready by July 31. Why did my Yahoo Mail just lose the ability to download each mail in the Mail app so I need to download the rest of each email when I'm reading it? Why won't the Mail app open sometimes? Why is the list of networks fluttering around so I need to WhackAMole to pin down the one I want? Why did Sound not work in the latest build until I spent an hour repairing it?

I feel like I'm on a flight that still won't settle down for landing. :shock: But in spite of the remaining beta buggyness they've really made a great effort to update and bridge Windows into the future without being annoyingly App-centric. The openness with which they've done this makes me proud of the company.

One thing to remember is that the builds that are going out even to the fast ring are still "old" within a few days. I agree I am hoping it's ready by the time there's a build available at the end of next month, but I'd wager there will still be bugs that will come up. The vast majority of it will work fine, just like the releases of 7, 8, and 8.1. As long as bugfixes get out quickly, it should be fine.

Considering the Insider program will continue running after RTM I think bugs will be fixed pretty quickly with Insiders having a direct channel to MS. Updates will probably be pretty regular for the first few months or so.

It is much more than OK to me. I never stepped back once I have got it.

But that does not necessarily mean that it will be equally OK to you.

Try it, see how it goes. If it does not suit to you, get back to windows 7 again.

Yep I will Archie it is just the 8 "look" that I am not fond of but I suppose I should try all the same.
