Why won't Microsoft publish Windows 10 update release notes?

The lack of official documentation means either having to rely on unofficial (and quite possibly incomplete) leaked documentation such as those published by Russian leaker WZor (you can see examples here, here, and here), or taking the slower, more cautious Long Term Servicing Branch (LTSB). LTSB is meant for mission-critical systems, but I'm hearing from a lot of administrators who feel they're going to be happier taking things at a more reserved pace.

Whatever the reason for the lack of documentation, the idea of downloading operating system updates that have no documentation beyond "improvements to enhance the functionality of Windows 10" feels very unnerving. After years of being able to make informed decisions as to what changes were being made to an operating system, Microsoft is now asking Windows 10 users to download and install black box mystery meat updates, something which goes against common sense IT practices.

After all we've heard about user privacy being violated with Win10, I'd be surprised if M$ did publish release notes.
I get the distinct impression that M$ wants users in the dark. Most users just don't care so long as they reliably can get on Facebook, watch cute cat videos on YouTube, and buy stuff on Amazon.

Because they don't want you to hide updates that could potentially hurt usability or features that you rely on and could be posibly removed in a future.
MS, if you don't change your mind, you lost another customer for 2020, I'm not installing Windows 10 and cooperating on you closing the ecosystem just to get all my budget. I'm switching to Linux Mint KDE and forget about this nonsense...

Yes, I found a sucsessor for Windows 7, it's pretty, fast, reliable and easy, and is darn close to the real thing right now, imagine it in 5 years!

First off most users don't know and don't care what Microsoft or anybody else sneaks into their computers. They are not going to investigate to find out.

For those of us that do want to know such information they are going to make it as difficult as possible for us to find out the complete information.
I can't speak for Microsoft but I get the impression Microsoft thinks the less we know the better chance they have sneaking things into our system.
I don't think that Microsoft agrees with a old saying.

I couldn't agree more Bear. I think everything MS has done starting with W8 has been geared precisely to the end you've described. MS used to be much more dedicated to their customer base, but they have changed directions and have become more agenda driven, customer base be damned.

Frankly I have a bunch of stuff that runs on Windows so may have have a virtual machine around or a box that is air walled from the network. Also Mint is great and there is Codeweavers Software Crossover https://www.codeweavers.com/products/ which may answer a large numbers of issues with must run software.

I keep getting an error 403 Access Denied message when trying to go to that link. I suspect it may be because I blocked their cookie. If so, I have no faith in their software if they can't design a website that will put up a proper error message for blocked cookies nor can I trust a site that requires its cookie to be accepted just to lurk on the site.

That may explain why I couldn't get onto their site: I block all cookies unless they are needed to do business with a site or to log into a site for posting privileges. If a site thinks it needs to plant a cookie on my computer or even log in just to browse it, it can just get stuffed.

Correct you are paying for the support and the "fixes to get stuff to install and work under Linux". Nothing wrong with that. As for cookies who cares. They tell you they use them. I am able to visit those sites and I just delete cookies afterwards. If you don't allow cookies you don't get on the site. You can't help some people. It is your PC so you do as you please of course. I have tested Mint Mate 17.2 on my Toshiba Laptop and on the whole it is a viable replacement for Windows 7 once 7 is End of Life. Sticking with 7 till the EOL and playing with Linux. Instead of learning the crap that is Windows 10 I am going over to Linux. There is even a media center Distro OS for a Media PC. Microsoft has "jumped the shark". The nut job in charge is in the land of rainbows and unicorns.

Oops IndianaTone, I think you quoted the wrong person. Play on Linux is free but you can donate, CrossOver Linux is trial software that only works for limited time without payment. Crossover can charge for the software that doesn't violate the gpl. The rest of GPL licenses is confusing to me.

There is a reason I refer to the last and current CEOs as Ballsmore and Nutella. The difference between them is Ballsmore was a nutcase wherease Nutella is also intelligent. He reminds me of Hitler; mad and brilliant.

I have been looking at sales figures of W-10. The accounting systems of the world must of changed.
They are counting the free (give away) W-10 in the total for sales.
I could spend large amounts of money advertise free used cat litter and create a line at my door.

When all the stories, likes, dislikes ect. come out the final analysis will be like any other product.
How many units were SOLD and what is the PROFIT in total and per unit.

I might be Googling in all the wrong places looking for actual sales of W-10 that bring income to Microsoft.
