today i went to the computer shop i saw they had some mac apple os i told the manager that i want one. then he told me you can only install the os on a mac machine is this true?????

It is possible, but you would need a fast PC, and it would have to be done on a VM (Virtual Machine setup).

It is possible to install, but like Anak said, it would be best done on a VM (virtual machine).

HOWEVER, there IS a roundabout wait of installing it as your regular OS. It's a long and tricky process, but if you do it correctly it will work. Friend of mine did it and he's got MAC OSX Snow Leopard running on his HP desktop.

You can always download Hackintosh if you don't want to mess with doing any hacks yourself.

it's one of those grey areas.

it is possible to install it on non-apple hardware, but i'm not sure if it's entirely legal.

if that worries you, then do not google hackintosh!

You CAN, Google search OSX86 and look things up a bit. Its generally referred to as a Hackintosh.

We cannot provide any links/names to things to help you as running OS X on a PC violates the Apple EULA.

It requires a non-vanilla kernel, the support IS there but the vanilla kernel restricts it.

iv got to harddrive internal im only using one of them for windows and the other im not using so wat i had in mind was i was gonna install the mac os on it. the mac os is only $70 dollers and if i want to buy the upgrade its only $35 dollers i was suprised that it was cheap . and yes i have an inte prosessor E8600. so wat u thinkl guys go for it???

If you want to you can, but I'd recommend just downloading Hackintosh, and here's why: installing an actual MAC OS on a non-MAC machine requires a lot of hacks, even if you do use an intel processor. If you do it wrong, it won't work; and if you keep getting it wrong, you can corrupt your hard drive.

I have a good bit of knowledge around OSx86. I even helped one of the Neowin.net Administrators (Neobond) get his machine working with OS X Snow Leopard. Thus why I have a Tier 2 subscription there now!

We'd also need a full system specification list. All of your hardware is important here. One thing could cause it all not to work.

Benjamin, my desktop (look at my system specs) only requires a special BIOS and 3 kexts (audio patch since 10.6.4 killed it!). It all depends on your hardware. Thats what determines the difficulty of installing it on a PC.

The main things anyone would really need to know is;

The model of your motherboard
The model of your audio card/onboard audio
The model of your graphics card/onboard graphics
The model of your CPU (which you've provided) and if you overclock it or underclock it or not matters as well.
