WI-FI hotspots

Does and should a laptop remember WIFI hotspots it has accessed? Is there a setting to ensure that? I noticed that I had to let the system (Windows 7) know that this was a public place for internet access, as opposed to a home network. When I returned home, it remembered automatically my home network. I didnt have to tell it to connect to my home network. But will I have to tell the laptop what to do every time I am at a particular Wi-Fi spot, which I visit regularly? Thank you for any information.

It can't know what SSID or hotspot there are in the zone untill you turn on your machine. Then it will scan and detect. At home W7 wireless utility can auto logon to your SSID everytime it detects it.



There are thirdparty software that you can set to auto logon to a particular network as soon as Windows starts. These are often used at Work wifis.
