I have installed tether so I can use my Blackberry phone Bluetooth when I'm away instead of hooking up to someone else's internet.

It works ok using USB but apparently Toshiba does not have widcomm so can't use the Blackberry on Bluetooth.

Anyone know of a download that will allow widcomm to work on Windows 7 on Toshiba. Thanks.

Have you had a look at the Toshiba web site to see if they have any information about using your Blackberry on Bluetooth ?

Won't work on my Toshiba i5 CPU, 64 bit, M450 laptop. Just keeps trying to find my cell phone but can't. Didn't download any files or anything.

That`s the driver for bluetooth that you said you needed. How did the pc search for your phone if the driver isn`t installed? When it`s searching for your phone you need to pair it with the phone, as the pc is searching you have to accept the pairing on the blackberry or it will never work.

The phone accepted the iPod - it says paired, but the iPod says failed to pair. I did it over and over, both with the cell plugged into the computer and unplugged but always set as discoverable.

When they discover each other each device should ask for a pin. Enter the pin on both devices and they should pair. Have you done that? If so maybe deleting all pairings on both devices and trying again might help.

Are you trying to use the blackberry to access the web? Or just access the bb from the pc to transfer files?

Thanks drone, but I couldn't get it to work. In fact, my BB froze up at "connecting to desktop" and I had to pop the battery.

Did you try it again after you put the battery back in? What model bb & phone network are you on?

No, I didn't get a chance to try again after I put the battery back in, but had to pop the battery again after awhile - got the same message "connecting desktop".

I have a BB Curve 8330 with MTS (Manitoba Telephone System).

Cut the tether

Hi Drone,
Just read over the instructions again and can't find anything about cutting the tether except in the preamble.

Also, I have Windows 7 Home Premium - not Vista or XP.

Just for your info.

Hi Vista & Windows 7 are virtually the same thing when it comes to this. That`s why Vista drivers usually, there`s always one, work properly on 7 if you can`t find a Windows 7 driver.

Step 4 in the link mentions the Bluetooth modem. It does say turn off encryption on the BB then have the laptop find the phone first, set the laptop part up then setup the BB.

Found this on RIM`s website about setting up the Bluetooth modem.

KB12544-Connect a computer to the Internet using a BlackBerry smartphone as a Bluetooth IP Modem

If none of that helps then maybe someone on this bb forum can help

Hope this helps you get this sorted out as I`m out of ideas, I`m sorry to say. The only consolation is that using the USB cable is quicker if you can`t get this working.
