Widescreen crop

Hi
I'm running media center on a 8:5 screen, however the TV signal is of course 16:9. I can't find any option in media center to display black bars on the top/bottom of screen and not stretch the picture (which is what it's currently doing).

How can I fix this?

8:5 = 16:10. Is your desktop resolution set at a 16:10 ratio [1280x800 1440x900, 1680x1050, etc]?

Go into the Tasks menu in WMC and choose Configure your TV or Monitor. make sure you choose Widesceeen, even though you're technically a bit taller than true wide-screen.

Hi,

If you have set your monitor settings correct like jelyman said try this:

when you're watching a tv channel rightclick with your mouse
a menu will pop up with on the right side two arrows
click twice on the right arrow, there you can set the zoom level media center will use.

Because it makes more sense when comparing resolutions, the similarity / difference between 16:9 and 16:10 is easier to notice and understand than that of 16:9 and 8:5.

OK...although then we might aswell base all common ratios upon their lowest common denominator

(or we could just assume that people can do basic maths :sarc Lol
