widows 7 itunes and the devil

Alright so here's the thing any help would be great. I got this new laptop for my birthday in November and just put the new itunes (9.3) on it for the first time tonight. itunes loaded in fine no problem but all my music is on an external which hasn't been an issue in the past. I got all the music to load into itunes and it currently plays but when I try to sync my 160 gig ipod it won't work. I got error code -69 so I totally deleted itunes and started over. I restarted the ipod in disk mode and everything seemed to be going well I was a couple thousand songs in and I got the same error again. Now when I plug my ipod in itunes says syncing for a minute and then totally freezes and my ipod says connected eject to disconnect which I obviously can't do because itunes is frozen. It has synced up until AT but that is a long way from Z my friends. I have been trying everything I can think of but I am at a complete loss. I know there have been some problems with windows 7 and itunes but if anyone has any experience with this, or any ideas please respond because this is getting beyond frustrating. Thanks.

I don't have experience with this, per se, but I wonder if you completely restart your iPod if that would do the trick. Not sure, but it is something to try.

Ok, with win 7 (64-b) and iTunes (64-b) there´s Intel PM55 Express chipset (CPU i7) issue wich ruins the programs ability to sync. (Internet is loaded w descriptions of those problems..).
Intel is not to blame. Its the bad BIOS drivers of the various mobo makers thats the culprit.
OK, in my case (Dell Studio XPS 16, 2x4 GB i7 processor and the PM55 Express chipset), Dell announced the new flash BIOS driver upgrade (A06) on Feb 2. After flashing my system, iTunes and sync of my iPhone worked like a charm.
You have to figure this out with your win 7-system...is there a BIOS upgrade availabe??

Good Luck... /Thomas

Well I did reset and restore my ipod multiple times and that did nothing. I don't know about a bios upgrade haven't looked into that but I can tell you that apple is pretty much no help. I will see what I can figure out. Any other suggestions are a great help.

I would'nt worry about a bios update, its possible that the windows mobile device driver/service is turned off.

Don't know if this makes any difference but now it will sync partially like maybe 300 songs and then the ipod will say connected eject before disconecting and itunes will say syncing but it won't move at all. I can't eject it because it's frozen but as soon as I unplug it itunes works just fine. This is super frustrating I don't know if the problem is my computer, itunes, or the ipod itself.

Alright well I have just tried putting everything on the ipod while it is in disc mode and to no avail. This has been an ongoing process and it is getting beyond old. I think I might have to load all of these 50000 songs one artist at a time or something to see if there is a corrupt file because I have no idea how to do it otherwise. Suggestions?

Alright so I flashed the bios and the ipod stayed connected much longer then usual but once again error code -69 and then itunes freezes and I just have to unplug the ipod cold and there is actually much less music loaded on it then before. So I think that the next step is to just load it in file by file all 20000 songs which will take beyond forever or possibly just try this on a buddies computer or something. Still any suggestions are awesome.

alright so I restarted and totally cleaned the ipod and continued loading file artist by artist and sync individually after each one with no problems at all. I waited until it said sync complete ok to disconnect and ejected it when i went to scroll through just to make sure it said that there was no music on the ipod anywhere when i plugged it back in it said it couldn't read it and i had to restore it. Are you serious? This is some sort of cruel joke right? Is there any logical reason for why this is happening?

also when i plug the ipod in it still says connected but itunes shows nothing in the devices section. nothing. so once more i will probably have to go to disk mode (like for real 20th time) and do all of this again? What can I do??????
