Wierd Installation Hangup

Everytime that I go to install Windows 7 now, it takes 5 minutes for the install screen to appear. After clicking on "Install Now" it takes another 5 minutes for setup to load. Then after geetting the setup configuration working properly and telling it to perform the installation, it takes another 5 minutes for the installation to begin. I'm sure this is a hardware issue since it has been occurring since about build 7227 and I've had multiple builds and burns since that time, each one doing the same thing. I'm just not sure where to look to solve the issue. This problem increases what was a 15-minute install and now make is 30+ minutes. Any ideas?

Questions to answer for help with Installation Issues

Try installing using a USB key, this will help eliminate burn and DVD drive issues.

There are other suggestions in the thread as well.

The procedure and speed of burning the ISO to DVD has been the most frequent cause of installation failure
• How did you burn the DVD? Briefly describe the steps you used.
• Which ISO burning software did you use?
• At what burning speed and with Verify checked?
• A slow burn speed, lowest setting (example x4 speed), will ensure an error free burn.

Due to burning DVD failure to install incidents these alternative methods are suggested
There are two non DVD methods for installing Windows 7:
• Installation using a USB key (Memory stick, Flash Memory) it’s easy and fast to setup using this tutorial:

• Installation from another partition or hard disk, try this tutorial:

Other
• Any Over Clocking of the RAM or CPU?

Suggestions
• Remove everything not essential to loading Windows 7, from the system. No printers, gamepads, second monitors, scanners, external devices, flash drives etc., keep only the monitor, keyboard and mouse.
• A standard VGA cable connection between Video card & Monitor is sometimes required for a Windows 7 installation.

Is the DVD dirty or scratched? RAM going bad?

I guess if you try Dave's suggestion on using a USB drive, that could help rule out the RAM going bad issue.

Ever since I upgraded my com at the end of last year, I've been having the same problems as well, both with Vista and Win7. Have you managed to solve the problem? Looking for a solution too.

I don't think it's the RAM since everything works fine thereafter. It's just that installation becomes rather a pain.

This happens on two of my older computers here since RTM. It is just an annoyance so far.
