Hi there,

I need help!

The wireless internet access of my laptop disconnects after every few hours of use, and does not reconnect for a good hour or so. During the 1 hour it constantly connects to the router, fails, breaks the connection, and tries over and over again. After an hour or so it just succeeds and internet connection is back and works fine again for some hours.

- wifi signal is excellent (full bars, sitting right next to the router does not make a difference)
- other devices have no trouble connecting to the router (smartphone, other laptop, etc, and they do not experience such hiccups)
- restarting the router does not help
- restarting the laptop also does not help
- The router actually registers my laptop connecting every minute, and then it disappears for the list of connected devices.
- I cannot ping the router (or anything else) from my laptop during this time.
- device manager says drivers are up to date

I am guessing its either my wifi card dieing, or I have some odd signal interference. Or maybe something else. Any ideas?

(asus laptop, win7, intel centrino wireless n-100 card, bt broadband service, bt home hub 5 router)

Open Device Management and go into wifi properties, power management and uncheck turning it off etc.

Also download Linux Mint MATE and make bootable DVD/USB. Boot with it (no need to install) and see if it will work alright.

Thanks for the tip!

The option to turn it off to save power is unchecked, so that isn't the issue.

The boot USB is a good idea, but takes a bit of time. Will try that too in the next couple of days.

In the meantime, any other ideas are also welcome.
