Wifi is connected but identifying frequently and yellow star on logo

Forget the previous post ! I was toooooo optimistic :huh:
I did a reboot even with the settings on an open or a closed network and oeps...the same yellow dot appears and re-identifying starts again at unknown intervals.
But ! I did some tests now and i am able to replicate the case where the problem disappears and that is when i just delete the network in 'wireless network administration' , reboot, reenter the WEP password and voila...everything is OK!

So, when i always reboot after the wifi icon is ok , problems reappear.

So, what does rebooting do with my networkconnection ????:sarc:



ps: all of this happens whether i am in a private or an open network , so this has nothing to do with it.

Next thing I would do would be to manually reset your router by pushing and holding in the tiny little reset button on the back of the router for 20 seconds. This will/should reset your router to the default settings. Then I would change your wireless security from WEP to WPA2-personal. It's more secure.

ok but i tested my laptop on a different location now (ok it's a WEP key - at home i have a WPA2) and problems seem to reappear. The endresult remains bad so i think imho that the modem has nothing to do with it or is it ?

If you can connect elsewhere and not have any problems then when you connect to your home network and start to have problems tells me it's either a driver problem, router issue (firmware update for the router) or the router is going bad itself. Which can happen.

Like I said in the previous post, I would reset the router, then update the firmware and make sure wireless security it is set to wpa2 personal. Then double check to make sure all laptop drivers are up to date.

Then I would check if issue is still remains. Then you could check connection with another wireless device on your home network and see if that has the same problem your laptop is experiencing.

I have connected elsewhere and yes, also there i have this problem. Only i thought it was solved because when connecting the first time it was good. After reboot it became bad.
So on another router, the problem remains the same after all ( like i stated in my previous comment )

And...can anybody plz explain how to get rid of this yellow dot !!
And no, it just happens to disappear after deleting my network and reconnecting but reappears after rebooting.
I searched the web for this and there is no one, no one who can give any proper solution or just the main reason WHY after all this stupid yellow star appears !?!

Could you post a screen shot of the yellow dot you're referring to? Maybe if I could see what you see it might ring a bell.

Have you changed any of the wireless setting in the routers web based page? Have you renewed the IP address? Is DCHP enabled?

I thought you knew what i meant with the yellow dot, sorry ...strange you ask it just now ( it's in the asking-title )
A lot of people have this yellow star in their wifi logo. Why ? No one can give us a good explanation of the meaning of this corrupted wifi icon.
When you google 'yellow dot', you can find a lot of this stuff. And no, it won't go by resetting the network...
The problem appeared the first time after an MS update i think. Since then it has been there all the way.
I didn't changed my settings or that kind of stuff. My network conditions always have been quite good.

Though i will read about resetting the TCP/IP and what consequences that has.

I appreciate all the help you have given me so far. Sorry nothing helped, but we will find a solution.

I used the MS TCP/IP toolkit but no success.

Like i did yesterday with another router on another place, i deleted the network at my place this morning, rebooted, typing the WPA-key again and the result ( like i stated before ) is OK. Logo OK and not identifying. BUT it is just when i reboot after things where good, that things go bad t.i. yellow dot and from time to time identifying.
It is strange i confess.

When i reboot, are there possible settings that go corrupt some way ? I don't understand....

PS : See for the screenshot that wifi is ok after i deleted the network and reinstalled it.

PS : i use dhcp enabled to view ip camera's remote on android phone through DNS - it always have been good with dhcp enabled - so i don't see the problem there imho. See screen of ipconfig ( sorry it'd dutch )

Thanks for the screen shot of icons. That yellow dot means you have no internet and that there are wireless connections available.

As for your issue I'm completely stumped....maybe something will hit me and jar a memory and the proverbial light bulb will go off.

The yellow dot is there and my internet is ok ( except for the annoying identifying from time to time - +-10 min intervals ).
So why is it there when i am connected ?
Believe me, i have searched for it and no one can give me a solution on that.
