Hello there!
I am using HCL ME 74 series laptop with win 7 OS 32 bit. recently my OS crashed and I reinstalled the OS. surprisingly there are no netwrok controllers in my device manager. the network adpters give by HCL have been used. But the system is detecting the wifi networks all around but not connecting.
The HCL ME series gives some funny buttons to press: set wifi enable -> Fn+F11, and bluetooth -> fn+F12 . both are enables.
As a typical Indian customer care center the support people are very uninterersted to help (with a lot of laughter and gossip in the background).
request for urgent HELP..... some one....ANYONE PLEASE!!!

If your laptop is detecting available connections then you already have the necessary drivers installed.
You just need to tell Windows to connect manually the first time and enter the WEP or WPA password to connect to the router. After that Windows will remember the connection and connect automatically.

I am using ESET smart security 5 for securing my computer. Is it blocking all incoming and outgoing connection?!( I am new to ESET and I dont really know the settings for this software.)

Uninstall ESET completely, reboot, and see if you can connect. If so, you know that's the problem, then you can either research how to configure ESET or you can dump it and use something else. Personally I use Microsoft Security Essentials, which doesn't screw up your internet connection/network connection.
