Solved wifi not connecting (even on static ip) - autoconfig ip problem

Hey all , here's the deal : my laptop is not able to connect to my wifi router even though my friends's laptops and even my smartphone have no problem - I've tried restarting the router countless times - didn't work. Thereafter I tried giving it static ip but found that the autoconfig ip entry is unchanged . The attached image should clarify . ( I've removed a few things cuz its my office ip )

I've looked around a lot to find a fix . I tried clearing up my dns and ARP caches - no go with anything . Any suggestions ?

Have you tried the troubleshooter when you right click the network icon on the systems tray?

It was the first thing I tried - didn't work .

Open an http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/783-elevated-command-prompt.html and enter the following command: ipconfig /release and then ipconfig /renew (or reboot your computer). If that doesn't work, release the IP again and shutdown your computer. Now, power cycle the router/modem (turn it off, wait 10 seconds, power it back on). When the router has fully powered back up, boot up your computer and see if you can now connect.

Do you have the network icon active like in this picture?
Then try going to windows mobility center to check whether your network could be accessed by the system.
To open mobility center in windows 7,click on start and type "windows mobility center" in the search box then open it.
And are you using Wi-Fi or ethernet?If you are experiencing problem while connecting using Wi-Fi then try connecting using the ethernet port.Hope this helps...

Hey Dwarf , it didn't work . Any other suggestions ?

My Wireless icon is the one for limited connectivity . I'm on ethernet right now but that's really not the issue here . Also , the mobility center couldn't help either .

P.S. : My laptop has no probs connecting to my newly installed home wifi . I'd be tempted to say the problem lies with the router but since my colleagues have no probs connecting here ...

Your picture shows that dhcp is off but you said you turned it back on.

Go back into the ipv4 setting and make sure that autoconfig is selected. (All the input boxes are greyed out when this is enabled.)

then run ipconfig /renew as stated above.

That didn't work either parman . What did work was some unknown fix from windows update . My wireless is running fine now . Thanks for all the help guys

It was probably a driver issue or something. Glad its working.
