I have a dual boot system. I have recently purchased a wifi pci card because I have been using an old USB Cisco Valet which never worked with windows 10 and is about 10 years old, so it was time to upgrade.

Here is the error:
"Virtual-box host only network doesn't have a valid ip configuration"

Windows 10 - runs well, found the driver and the internet work
Window 7 - VirtualBox Host only network doesn't have a valid IP address configuration.

I have tried several methods to fix this, but nothing seems to work.

YouTube

I have been searching for an answer, microsoft says to delete virtual box :
"Wi-Fi" doesn't have a valid IP configuration - Microsoft Community

I suppose I could try to use cisco valet for windows 7 only, but it defeats the purpose. Any suggestions?

I'm confused. You say this is a dual boot setup, but it looks like it's not a dual boot setup but you are using a virtual appliance. If this is in fact the case, I think it's due to Virtual Box's poor emulation. If you want to virtualize an OS, I highly recommend VMware Workstation Player.

The other issue could be that the guest OS, Windows 7 in this case needs to be configured as a bridge. If it's in bridging mode try NAT in Virtual Box.

You are speaking over my head, but I do appreciate the help!

I'm using a free dual boot program, is that why you are saying it's virtual? It is easybcd, is that what you are referring to? Is that causing problems? Is there a better way?

In Windows 7 go into the control panel | Programs and Features and see if VirtualBox is listed there. If it is uninstall it.

It seems that may be the issue. And as I said, if you virtualize an OS then try VMware Workstation Player instead.

Any idea why it is installed in the first place? I don't remember installing it...

I have no idea. Perhaps it was installed as part of some software. Since I don't operate your computer I really can't be sure why it's there in the first place. Do you have other people use your computer by chance?

No I'm the only one. I just wish I knew what it was used for, which programs need it or access it. I will uninstall it once 8 have a bit more information on its purpose.

VirtualBox is a virtualization (emulation) program. It's a way of running an OS inside another OS, similar to XP Mode or ePSXe, etc. Some programs like Folding@home will run VirtualBox appliances, could be you installed it when you were installing a program like that.

The error means that VirtualBox isn't properly communicating with your new Wifi card. Probably if you uninstall and reinstall VirtualBox the program will recognize it properly and the error will go away, but in any case if you aren't using VirtualBox the error can be safely ignored.

I have uninstalled virtual box without issue so far.

BUT I am stuck with the issue that my wifi card does not have the right drivers (The network controller has a yellow exclamation/conflict icon beside it). Trying to update the driver through the trouble shooting results in no effect.

Wifi Card - ubit PCI-E wirless wifi card:
I have the Ubit disc with the drivers from the company - both 32bit and 64bit (I am running windows 7 ultimate 64). Both of them do not seem to yield any results. I have rebooted as well.

Looking closely at the trouble-shooting guide, they show a screen capture for this Ubit wifi card using the "Intel AX200 Wifi 6 driver". I am presently downloading the Wifi pro exe package from intel to see if that work.

Download Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless Software and Wi-Fi Drivers

As I have previously stated, I am running dual boot and windows 10 wifi works flawlessly, so I know the card is operable. Just having issues with windows 7.

any suggestions?
