Solved Will 7950 have tearing performance along with my this rig?

Guys,I have a 18.5inch led monitor.
My config is:
PRO:i5 3470
Ram:8gb ddr3 1333
PSU:550watt (coolermaster or corsair){not decide}
MOBO:gigabyte b75 d3v
1)I am planning to buy 7950.a tech frnd told me that if i buy it will give me tearing performace cause i have 1366*768 RES. with 60 fps or hz.so the gpu will send more fps than needed that time.it will destroy gaming experience.is it true?he advice me to get 7850 2gb.
2)what if i set it 75hz?will still do prob?
3)Does powerful gpu more future proof?for example if 7850 protects 3 years of playing game smoothly than 7950 will protect 5 yrs,7990 will protects 7-8 years.M i right?
ABOUT ME:M a casual and normal gamer so not much hardcore about what i got in performance.i just want to play game smmothly that's it and want my gpu long run in future.one time investment.

at that resolution, the 7950 would be overkill I would think. you can handle new games at low resolution with much cheaper cards. if you are getting any of the 7xxx cards, I would definitely get a better monitor.

I have not found much info on tearing, I would think that the system can be set up for lower resolutions, but i am not sure. I can't find anything online regarding the 7950 and tearing.

As for futureproofing, the cards will probably be good for about the same duration of time. advances in design might make all of them obsolete so you really can't say.

I can summarize some things:

1. Don't buy something of lower quality "cheaping-out" than you need for budget with the idea of buying a better quality item later. it is more expensive than just buying what you need now.

2. "super premium components like highend motherboards, video cards, gaming components are not future-proof". They are in the sense that they will last at this level which will remain exeptable for a while, but will not be as cost-effective as getting what you need now and then buying a newer card later when a new one is actually needed. it is more effective to buy a new card and sell your old one.

3. Standards change, requirements change, technology changes.

4. Storage and RAM decreases in cost as new types come out so it is less expensive to upgrade ram. Unless they are IDE or another standard that is going away because as supply goes down, price will go up.

It will run fine and what you mean by tearing? As in screen tearing or just plain old bad performance? What it will do is use more of your cpu since it's such a low res and not use the card as much. If I was you I would get a monitor or tv with a bigger res to fully use it to its max. Other then that yea card will work fine, just won't be used as much.

something like that would be.tearing means may be ghosting(not sure).which i know that to stop that prob i should stop vsync so it well get locked at 60fps.hope u got it.

Yea i'm forced to use v-sync on my games even though I run them at 1080p and locking them at 60fps or else I get tearing that's why I asked, thought he meant like if he would get lots of tearing.

I never seen any tearing or ripping with any resolution using a 7970 I recently switched monitors a few moths ago from a 22inch 1680/1050 to a 27 inch 1920/1080 never gave any issues it might be a GPU problem I also run CF honestly to me it is more of a bad GPU or driver issues

Nothing is overkill if you plan on using it again for another system as far as replacement protection some Vendors require you to register with them for that to even happen

some offer 3 years but the max I have seen and this would be by the brand Visiontek Lifetime protection but you have to make sure you pick up a card that has it written on there Box some has 3 some have 5 years on it so you have to make sure to keep your eyes peeled if you want to get the best protection

In the Video future proof is a myth all you can hope for at some point that the old parts you have are still usable honestly I don't know who even coined that term nothing is future proof not even yourself so that is just a ridiculous statement in general

I would go for the best choice for yourself and if you choose to get another monitor then that also will help you make a better choice you don't need a super packed GPU either if your not playing your games on ultra settings and multi monitors I switch monitors from time to time but only size wise not to get more resolution

cause some of my older games I get really high fps and get screen tearing.

OP is right (And other's) that screen tearing is caused by having more fps than your monitor's refresh rate. Basic solution is to force V-sync. But sometimes at a cost of mouse lag. It is trial & error really.

I had screen tearing with DayZ (ArmA II mod) on my old Q6600 system but still had the GTX 560 i have now, and i had to force V-sync which did cause quite a bit of mouse lag. I happen to get my hands on a i7 CPU and funny enough i can now play DayZ with no V-sync and basically un-noticeble screen tearing. Work that one out... LOL

But like i said you just have to try with the games you play to see if V-sync causes any mouse lag. Most games run fine with V-sync on. It is just a very small amount. In older games i have always found that yes, you do get considerable amount of screen tearing (Quake 3, UT come to mind) but V-sync on sorted it and these older games didn't seem to be affected by mouse lag either.

I got the same problem as you Tayloring.
When im playing Diablo 3 or World of Tanks i get a bit some screen tearing. and have to force V sync, but then i get the mouse lag. its freaking annoying, so i just end up playing with the screen tearing. Ive also tried playing with V sync on Counter Strike Soruce ( not getting screen tearing there, did it just to test) and im getting the mouse lag there as well, no iead why

V-sync is the solution for all screen tearing, I suppose. You just turn it on and poof, tearing's gone. Go with 7950 if it's a one time investment.
