Should read: Will a router assist TABLET performance?

I have a desktop computer; my wife has a wireless Tablet [Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1'' GT-P5113].
We have standard U-Verse router [6mbps]. She primarily uses her tablet in the kitchen, about 45'-50' away from the U-Verse router. Question is: She sometimes complains about her internet speed being a little slow and my question is: If I purchase a [secondary] wireless Router, will this benefit her speed? If so, how complicated is it to install?

[There is virtually no interference between our locations; router is located at end of hallway; hallway leads to dining room, then open-door to kitchen]

Thanks in advance.

Put this on her tablet and have it look at your connection and see if there is a channel with less interference you can set your router to use. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.farproc.wifi.analyzer&hl=en I have the same tablet and it has a pretty bad wifi chip. You might want to get a range extender to expand your signal but I would not get a second router to do just that. Something like this Amazon.com: TP-LINK TL-WA860RE N300 Universal Wireless Range Extender with Power Outlet Pass-Through, Wall Plug, Plug and Play, Ethernet Port, Smart Signal Indicator Light: Computers & Accessories is good. If you want the flexibility of a second router you can do that route just make sure to turn off DHCP on the second one. You could also just get a way better router for your home in general and put your uverse combo box in bridge mode (check if it can do this before you go that route). But try the channel check first as that solves most range problems since if its on auto it is probably using the same as half your neighbors in the 2.4 GHz spectrum.

Thank you ..... The Range Extender should be the answer in lieu of a Router.
This site is teriffic.:)

No problem, don't forget to check your channel first, can save you a lot of money. Also the microwave if her tablet is near it will really cause interference for the wifi while in use FYI.
