Hi folks,

I'm planning to build my own DVR using windows 7's media center feature. I want to capture both ClearQAM signal (directly from coaxial cable) and S-Video signal (from a set-top box). I found HVR 1250 has a coaxial input for ASTC/ClearQAM and a S-Video input. Will this card work well in Windows 7? will windows 7 be able to recognize both ClearQAM and S-Video inputs? Also, the package comes with a remote and IR receiver. Can I use it to control Win7 media center? Thank you in advance.

Steve

Yes the HVR1250 works well on Windows 7 Ultimate. I use the Windows Media Center as it is better than the free WinTV you get with the tuner.
Any other questions just ask.

The remote and dongle are used to control your Set Top Box. To receive all channels you will need an STB and if available an HD STB. See these MCE TV Tuners:

Hauppauge Computer Works : WinTV for Media Center

Check over at Hauppauge for further instructions - once setup you will need to run WMC setup from the beginning. Once done, you can sit back and watch TV using the remote.

Getting started with Windows Media Center

And yes, WMC supports QAM in the USA, I am using Comcast and it works great.

Thank you for both of you and your replies. Regarding the remote control, I found the following post from Amazon user reviews.

...the included remote control does work with Media Center if you install the WinTV/Media Center support package from the Hauppauge Web site. (In the WinTV IR Configuration tool, you have to de-select the Hauppage remote control check box, interestingly enough.)...

Anyone got the included remote works with Media Center?
