will increased RAM help my situation?

I use hp635 wit 1.65ghz cpu , 823mb graphics card, 2gig ram and 320gb Rom. Am an architectural student and i use rendering apps such as 3dsmax. I know my system specs is technically low for this kind of work, but will increasing the ram to 8gig (the peak) improve my chance of fast and better rendering for the time-being till i get a new pc?

Might buy you a little time but the program would also rely on graphic's too so don't expect a world of difference
Ram would give you a little faster startup depending on your startup list.
With your low spec's cpu I'd say don't waste a lot of money 4gb should be fine or 2x2gb buy a 4 gb pack.
Crucial is a reasonable brand
