hi i just got an old computer from a friend who didt need it anymore and i was wandering if it could run wiin 7 the specs are:
pentium 4
512 mb ram
and an 5200rpm harddisk

The 512 meg of ram will be severely limiting :( Windows 7 lists the minimum requirements as 1 gig.

It might run (With aero turned off) but it could be painfully slow, possibly unusably slow, especially when you launch a program.

Definately upgrade the ram. I have a 7 year old pc and when I had Windos 7 on it, it ran very well. It came stock with 512 megs of ram, but it was upgraded to 2.5 gigs of ram. If I had tried to run widnwos 7 on it with 512 mb of ram, it would've been really slow.
