We had an older computer running windows xp that had become very outdated so we bought a new computer with windows 7 home premium (64-bit) and I was wondering if my old "dynex enhanced wireless g desktop card" would work with my new computer, or if I need to go out and buy a new card. My computer is:
eMachines - Desktop with Intel® Pentium® Processor ET1831-03

And my wireless card is probably discontinued model DX-EBDTC but I havent taken it out of the old computer to confirm. It says that it is compatible with vista but I dont know whether it was compatible with 32 and 64 bit versions of vista? I read on here that most time if it is compatible with vista then it will be with windows 7, is this correct? If it is compatible do I simply use the driver on the dynex page (even though it doesnt specify it is for windows 7 because it is discontinued?)

If it is not compatible does anyone have any recommendations on a inexpensive but good quality desktop card, or would you recommend running a cable from the router to this computer (only about 20 feet away but 2 walls and a room in between where I would need to go around the room with cable and cut holes in the walls?

I tried seven old wired ethernet PCI cards, two old wireless PCI cards, and one old USB wireless adapter under Windows 7 64, and couldn't get any of them to work.

But I've had success with these two new PCI cards...one wired and one wireless...both were automatically installed by Windows 7 and worked great:

Newegg.com - Rosewill RC-400 10/ 100/ 1000Mbps PCI V2.2, 32/64-bit, 33/66MHz Networking LAN Card With Heatsink & 4 LED indicators - Network Interface Cards

Newegg.com - EDIMAX EW-7128G IEEE 802.11b/g PCI Wireless Card Up to 54Mbps Wireless Data Rates 64/128-Bit WEP, 802.1x, WPA, AES - Wireless Adapters
