in the bios in the SATA config set the controller to IDE not AHCI these drivers were the ones for IDE mode they have seperate drivers for the AHCI mode but i would stick with IDE as AHCI seems to not work to good

Just a note,RAM can sometimes casue the installation to go awry,try taking out 4gig just for the installation then put it back in.

As far as your other question, the Bios is currently set to boot from the DVD drive. The Harddrive is second on the boot list.

Well, I'm completely lost now. Nothing seems to be working.
Does it matter what IDE channel my hard drive is plugged into? Because it's currently under IDE Channel 1 Master. I find it mildly disturbing that the motherboard labels it as an IDE channel when it's a SATA port.

it does not matter what port it's plugged into the only thing that matters is the boot device priority make sure that port is the boot device

the SATA drive does not require any master slave jumpers and don't worry about the SATA/IDE setting it just tells the bios how to treat the attached drive your still getting better performance than a regular IDE drive itself the AHCI which is supposed to give even better performance just seems to have so many issues something to do with the chipset drives

anyway like it was suggested you might remove some ram until you get windows installed this is a known bug then you can put it back in after you get it installed

you may want to use a bootable utility to format the drive first. this way you can find out if it is just the 7 dvd setup not recognizing the drive or if your drive is just one of the few that needs to be formatted before the os install disk will see it. with the mobo you have you should not have to install the sata controller drives to get the 7 installer to see your drive. if the ram trick does not work you might try updating the bios.

Well, I feel like an idiot. As it turns out, the hard drive was the problem. I returned it, got a new one and Windows installed like a charm. Sorry to waste everybody's time here, but I truly appreciate the quick responses and helpful suggestions.
