I have a OCZ Vertex.
My vertx is aligned on rules 1&2 but missaligned under rule#3
Guide RAID / Non-RAID Partition Alignment for max performance - OCZ Forum
Can i use windows 7 backup tool and have them saved on DVDs, then use the windows 7 disk to format the drive (hopefully making it aligned)?
Or will the backup tool save the partition table (and the misalignet) aswell?

Partition Offset 65536
File Allocation Unit Size 4096
Disk Sector Size 512
NAND Erase Block Size 524288 (left sence i have vertex 30gb (Mac edition))
NAND Page Size 4096 (left sence i have vertex 30gb (Mac edition))

Thanks guys!

I have never used Vertex. All i know is that if you back up your pc on DVD's using Windows backup, you can restore it anytime you want. You can try formatting the partition after backing up. BTW, what are you trying to do? Is this a RAID setup or are you trying to backup your computer or what?

1xvertex, not raid.

Make my partition aligned (see first post), but not needing to reinstall everything, aka backup & restore os and not the partition alignment with it. (make it aligned)
Might just wait untill the 22nd and reinstall w/ the retail and maybe even a new HD5850 :)

I had a similar issue with my OCZ Vertex and Vista x64 Ultimate. Unfortunately when I restored my Vista image, it also restored the bad alignment, forcing me to do a clean install of Vista. Has this changed in Windows 7 ? I dont know for sure but I would bet that Windows 7 has the same problem as Vista.

Support Question Will Vista restore computer option change partition alignment ? - OCZ Forum
I used diskpart, or diskpar, i dont remember and it ended up misaligned in rule#3.
I will be reformating with the 7 CD.
I will end up using sanatary erase, then trying. worst case, it will just be misaligned again.
Any other options/suggestions?

There are very few ( at the moment ) back up solutions that work byte to byte and do NOT change the partition alignment. The only one I know is Snapshot.

My original Partition alignment I set to 64 and also got a fail in #3.
Using Diskpart I changed to 512K and this passed al 3 tests.

In my case I am running XP and most back up software will change the alignment.

With my hardware, I recorded a 5% approx speed increase with correct alignment position #3.
