Will the XP driver for a NVidia Quadro2 Pro work on Windows 7 ?

Hello

I would like to know if the last driver for Windows XP made by NVidia for an (AGP) Quadro2 Pro will work on Windows 7. On Dell Workstation 340.

I searched this forum and found a thread of a person that said it worked but he didn't said if it worked 100%, as in 2d acceleration, 3d support (OpenGL), etc..

Already contacted NVidiia but their customer service uses the same public search engine so it may be outdated information. They dn't have a working forum anymore either.

It might work. It might work better in Compatibility Mode. Or it might not work at all. If you decide to try it I'd strongly suggest creating a restore point at a minimum. A full system image would be better.

Did the Nvidia Driver Download site show any drivers for Windows 7?

In addition to the excellent advice above, the XP driver will not install unless there is a working AGP driver (part of the chipset, not part of the video card driver).

If the motherboard is as old as that video card (12 years or so), then it likely that the native Windows 7 AGP driver won't work, and you will have to resort to trying to install the last XP chipset driver to get it working.

There's a chance it will work,I got the old xp intel driver for my brothers pc that only had a xp driver to work on his windows 7 pc. I had to run it in compatibly mode for windows xp sp3 for it to install or else it wouldn't.

I might work, but not 100% sure. You have to try it yourself, but don't expect to be totally easy to make it work. In the worst case, be ready for a bluescreen (since they are produced by drivers frequently)

The reason is that Win7 is a different version of Windows really, with a different kernel than XP. Generally, drivers can be safely shared between 2000, XP and 2003, or with with Vista, 7, 8, 2008 or 2012, which use the very same kernel.
