I just want to confirm this won't be a problem when I come to it.

I'm gonna back up my files and do a fresh install of win 7 on my desktop (same computer and motherboard) since it's been about 3 years and i want a fresh start again.

I originally got it with no os and used an upgrade win 7 pro x64; I seem to remember i installed it once and it wouldn't accept the key so i installed again and it worked (double install trick i presume).

Assuming I now download the iso for win 7 pro x64, burn it, boot, custom install, format drive and install with original product key it work yes?

I'm prob just being paranoid but I though i would confirm on here first

Thanks guys

If you have a valid Key, it should be accepted. Don't enter your Key until you have the install complete and are happy with it. You can then enter the Key and activate online. Sometimes instead of accepting the Key, it gives you a phone number at Microsoft to call. It isn't a big deal, it is just a recorded message asking some questions. Let us know how you come out.

If you have a qualifying XP or Vista then you can use Upgrade version, even if the qualifier isn't installed.

When you boot the Win7 installer it will see an OS on the HD to allow use of UPgrade version key. If the HD is wiped or new you 'll need to leave the key blank during install and afterwards do one of the workarounds in Option 3 of Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version.
