Will this processor upgrade gain me enough to be worth the $100?

I'm still fairly satisfied with my current system. It does what I need it to and runs all the games that I want to run at 1080p and at relatively high quality levels and a pretty decent frame rate. However, I'm considering replacing my GTX260 SLI setup with a newer, single graphics card, more than likely a GTX760 or GTX960 and replacing the processor. I just purchased but haven't installed another 4GB of RAM, taking me up to 8GB. I currently have a Core i5-750 processor and am considering replacing it with a Core I7-870. I'm curious if anyone could give me an idea what sort of boost/increase I may see. I guess I'm referring to mostly gaming as I doubt I'll see much speed increase when entering data or running reports in Family Tree Maker or surfing CNN or any other general tasks. I do a little CD ripping for my ipod and some ripping of my DVDs and Blu-Rays for use on my tablet and I know those can be fairly CPU intensive.

So, does anyone have any idea how the Core i5-750 Lynnfield and the I7-870 Lynnfield compare to each other?

Thanks.

You won't see any measurable increase in the performance of games IMHO. Games are really GPU intensive and rely very little on pure processing power of the CPU.

When I have a game running I will sometimes run HWMonitor in the background and when I am done I can see that the utilization and temps on the CPU have barely budged, while the GPU has very significant increases in both.
