Also the spec for the motherboard states it will run upto 1866mhz ram, from what I gather most AMD systems don't like running much above 1866mhz anyway.

I would suggest (as DocBrown says) looking for a 2x 4GB kit with a maximum speed of 1866mhz.

I'll go ahead and agree as well......2x4GB kits are the sweet spot for RAM these days. Some motherboards don't like all DIMM slots occupied, or won't run at advertised speeds with all slots occupied. Plus, you are locked into that 4x2GB kit as mentioned above. With RAM prices today, either max it out or use 2 sticks and leave yourself 2 for upgrading.
