will we be allowed to discuss the election in here?

i appreciate that politics are banned, from the main forum at least, but i was wondering if the Uk election (when its called) will be allowed to be discussed in the Chillout Room (as long as its a reasoned debate and not just mudslinging of course)

I don't know but I doubt it I think the ban extends to the whole site, well it should as in my opinion any discussion is bound to get out of hand no matter how good the intentions are, the subject is just too contentious, well that's my feelings on the matter.

We have experimented with relaxing the rules on this at the Vista Forums but although it started out well - it soon degenerated into something almost as bad as a PC Vs MAC debate.

You could PM Z3r010 and check his thoughts but I doubt this would be allowed even in chillout

I have to agree, especially the contentious part. I tend to stay away from such discussions, at least in forums, regardless of the side I’m on.

Hi all

Agree absolutely with previous post.

There are plenty of other places to discuss things like the UK Election -- you can't help of course having SOME politics on even these types of sites -- for example issues on things that directly effect computers - Microsoft - Anti trust legislation, Piracy, Google, censorship etc but a National election which concerns citizens of a particular jurisdiction doesn't merit any place even in a Chill out Room.

I would however PLEAD with any UK electors --whatever their politics - to please VOTE. Free elections are a hard fought for right which still don't exist in too many countries even these days -- so whatever the outcome PLEASE VOTE when the time comes (probably May 6th).
