Hello,

I have a Toshiba Satellite L305 Series laptop and would like to install Ubuntu with Wubi (Windows Ubuntu Installer). I have 2GB of RAM. 226GB hard disk space on the C Drive, it currently has Windows 7 Professional 32-bit installed and I would like to dual boot it with Ubuntu. Will it work on this computer? Also, about how much space should I allocate to Ubuntu in Wubi?

Thanks, Help is appreciated.

It should work. I don't know if you'll be limited to installing Ubuntu 32-bit only or if you can still use 64-bit, but Wubi should work. As for how big it should be, that depends on what you want to use Ubuntu for.

Thanks Klaw117,

I was thinking about 6GB for it, is that good enough? I am probably only going to use it for internet, and some apps from The Software Center. I don´t plan on downloading a lot of heave games/files since I have Windows 7 in dual boot for gaming. Thanks.

5-5,5GB is min, I will add little more to this (10-15GB can be OK). for Linux. But, I don't recommend Wubi. Installing OS from your current OS...... is not so good .....

Best way is to burn it to CD or DVD and do Native Install. You can't lose anything.

Dual-Boot is faster , you have more performance and much other.

Yes I do know that it is better from a CD or a DVD, but just to make sure, Wubi will work, right?
Thanks.

I've never had joy installing Wubi. If it doesn't work, you might be better off running Ubuntu under a VM, but it will struggle with the RAM that you have available.
