Hi

My system has started randomly locking up every now and then. Sometimes going to the blue screen moaning about :

"A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor"

  • Win7 64bit

  • Asus P6T SE motherboard

  • 9 Gig Corsair DDR3 PC3-1600
(According to CPU-Z. I will have to pull the side off and look because I forgot what I put in, which also raises another question if I have them in the right slots!)

  • Intel i7 920 CPU
Now, all of my Bios settings are on auto. I've turned off things I know I don't need but as far as the CPU & memory is concerned I've not touched it.

I've only ever managed to make it crash on purpose twice. Once while tabbing through screens and running a game & the other tabbing through screens while running audio software. Most times it's without warning but after a restart it seems to be stable. It's almost like it has a memory laps then goes "Doh!"
before dieing when multitasking.

I
uninstalled the EPU6 engine and also so I could eliminate any AI auto clocking. I've also disabled Speedsteping in the BIOS to see if that made a difference too. Still no luck.

I can't help but think it's something to do with the
settings or the RAM, hopefullyit isn't my motherboard! I just can't narrow it down though. I left my computer on for a stress test over night using some software and it ran fine.

Also, like I said, it's only just started doing this and been fine before hand... Any help would be much !

Regards,

Marcus

Hey Lomai,

I'm dont have one on here, I only use it for work recording music. I would do a system restore but I don't have an IMG old enough that predates the time it started crashing to restore the system with.

Have you tried resetting the BIOS settings to defaults?
Is your system overclocked?

Yep I've tried the factory default settings and it's still doing it. My system is not overcocked. After a reboot it seems fine however...

Is there an easy way to check for that without ripping it out the back?

EDIT : I think it's 600 Watts or 500 Watts

Interesting, same set up as me with a VERY similar problem. I'm going to get MSE then I'll look at testing my PSU. I do have reason to believe it could be my external Audio rack unit too so I'll keep that unplugged for now just to be sure.

Thanks for the links Lomai, I'll let you know how I get on.

I unplugged all my USB devices bar the mouse and keyboard and tried to make my PC crash. Guess what? It was actually fine!

I left my PC to be tested overnight with OCCT and It's also OK. First time it's not crashed for a day. Could it be possible I have to many USB devices that require power and the power supply can't supply enough?

EDIT : Another thing I did was disable a load of services I didnt need for printing networks, and some other crap I dont use.

EDIT : Ok, so it's the 3rd day now, still no crash's. All I've done is disable some services and set the memory to run more on background operations instead of programms. Strange...
