When I try to install win 7 64bit it won't complete the install. The screen is blank and it will stay that way for over an hour. I have read many post on this site about that problem and have tried many of the answers that were given (only having one drive connected, using only one stick of ram etc). but it still will not install all the way to where you name the computer and put in a password. When I reconnect the other drives and boot into my win 7 32bit os and go to computer and check the drive that I was trying to install the 64 bit os the files are there. Of course under users there is only Administrator, default and public. I have tried 3 different install disk that I borrowed from other people and the same thing happens. Any help will be appreciated. My system is an Asrock X58 Extreme motherboard Core i7 920, 12gb of ram. I also have winxp and win 7 32 bit installed. I have a total of 4 harddrives.

It stops after the computer reboots and you choose what OS to boot. After I choose the new install the screen goes blank and stays that way.

If the install is not completed then you would not choose an OS to boot as the restarts are automated through those screens until you set up your User account and initial settings.

But often the problem is that a driver is hanging the install, so by entering the Device Manager during install you can uninstall any device in error (usually Display) to complete the install and update the driver for that device from desktop. Device Manager - Access During Windows 7 Installation

I'll need results of each step I give you starting with the earlier ones to know what to suggest next.

I used your tutorial "How to Access Device Manager During the Installation of Windows 7". I disabled the driver for the video card. Rebooted and a screen came up with "Starting Services" then it reboots and goes to the installing windows screen and it shows "completing installation". After it reboots there is a blank screen for 2-3 minutes. It then reboots and comes to the screen to choose the OS so right away I know it did not install.

What are the choices on the Boot menu screen presented? Normally during install this would be Windows Setup and would start itself after a few seconds. Is this what you are seeing?

Perhaps you should wait awhile at the boot screen.

If this fails, what happens when you choose each entry?

Did you wipe the HD as I first suggested, to clear the boot sector of any possibly conflicting code or previous OS entries?

The choices are:
Earlier Version of Windows
Windows 7
Windows 7 32bit

I am not seeing Windows Setup.
If I wait it will boot to the Windows 7 but when it does reboot it goes to a blank screen for 2-3 minutes and will reboot again to the choices above.

Yes I did wipe the hadrdrive.

I have 4 hd's
I disconeccted 3 of them.
The drive I used was zeroed out
I used a disk partioning program
I just tried to repair the drive instead of installing and the report said
Root Cause Found: Boot status indicates that os booted successfully.

Try booting target HD with others unplugged making sure it's set first to boot in BIOS setup and marked Active. If it fails run Startup Repair again a few more times to be sure.

Try installing with all other HD's disconnected, target HD wiped with Diskpart Clean Command.

After install keep Win7 HD set first HD to boot, boot others using one-time BIOS Boot Menu key.

I get the same results whatever I do

Where did you get Win7? Did you burn the DVD yourself? Has it worked previously to complete install?

I bought one and borrowed two others. I also downloaded one from digital river. I burnt the one from digital river
