Win 7 accessing Win 7

I have two windows 7 desktops connected on a LAN. I do not use the Homegroup sharing (have problem with IP6 on one of the machines) anyway I prefer the conventional standard workgroup share system. Now neither computers use IDs and passwords (left blank). But when I try and access a share on one machine from another, I get the id and password box, yet none are set. And I get stuck here and cannot access shared drives (and have locally set the drive to share with the hand symbol under the drive). How can I access the shares on the other machine. Both are on the same LAN and see each other. Never had this prob with XP although that had its own problematic ways of working at times. Mike

Hi,

If your Router is secure, either by WEP or WPK then you could always disable passwords in the Network and Sharing Center > Advanced sharing settings
