win 7 acting unusual

Hi all,
Windows 7 updated on my laptop and immediately things changed.

1. All my desktop icons were gone.
2. My documents in the my docs folder were gone. However when i went into users/name/mydocs i found them.
3. the anti virus always has to be started when i start my computer.
4. The font in windows is totally different as well.

Any Idea as to how this could have happened?

Hello mizude and welcome to Seven Forums.

My initial guess is the update(s) were damaged or corrupted in some way. Try doing a System Restore to return your computer to a pre-update condition.

If you don't have a pre-update restore point you could manually remove all updates.

See if your computer returns to normal.

Are you sure you are logged in as your normal user account. Sometimes Windows has problems and creates a new account then logs you in with it and you end up with an empty desktop and nothing in documents, pictures, etc.

Look at C:\Users and see what accounts are listed there. Also look at Control Panel, User Accounts then click on Manage another account and see what is listed there.

Thank you all for the help. I found a solution on youtube. It must not of updated properly so it went to the default profile. I made the changes as seen in this video and it works now.
