I have noticed something rather strange ever since I upgraded to Windows 7 Pro x64 from Windows Vista Premium x64. My SD card reader rarely works. If I have an SD card in the computer, it will instantly crash upon loading the desktop. Sometimes I am able o get a successful read out of it when the computer is completely loaded before inserting the SD card, but half of the time, just like start-up, it will blue screen. Am I missing drivers? Is Windows 7 not compatible with my machine? Please help, and thank you for it!

Hello Infress,

Welcome to Seven Forums.

Drivers would be my first thought, but windows should have installed them automatically. Go to device manager (rt. click Computer/Manage/Device Manager. It will probably be listed under Disk drives. See if there is a yellow warning. Double click on the reader and see if it says it's working. You could also take a look in disk management to see if it shows there. Let us know what you find. You can post some snips if it's easier. Info if needed. http://www.sevenforums.com/general-...ed-method-uploading-posting-screen-shots.html

First thing I might try is to uninstall the device in device manager and reboot to see if windows will find and reinstall the driver.

Hope this helps.
