Win 7 cannot "discover" MS Mouse 5000 via Bluetooth

Yes, I have searched all of the threads that reference this and I think I have tried all of the suggestions.

"Rebuilding" Win7 on an older laptop after a hard drive crash. The install was done from a genuine Microsoft RETAIL DISTRIBUTION. Window update has been run multiple times so it should be up to date.

In service, Bluetooth is set to automatic start and Local (password fields are blank)
Under the Bluetooth setting the "Allow" box is checked as well as all of the other boxes.

Reboot, start discovery, turn on MS Mouse 5000 and push the "discover" button. LED on top blinks read and green. NO JOY !


EDIT : I forgot to mention, this is an HP Pavilion 15z with a built in Bluetooth radio. This mouse did work on this laptop before the C drive crashed.

Have you updated the Bluetooth driver. If Bluetooth came with this HP computer, then you may have to go to the HP website & get the right Bluetooth driver. Windows 7 Operating System doesn't have Bluetooth drivers, so you will need to source them elsewhere.

The only "button" on the laptop is the "airplane mode" which I believe turns both WiFi and Bluetooth On and Off. The WiFi is On so I assume the Bluetooth is On also.
