Well not sure where to start here, since I have for some reason alot of issues with doing a install of Win 7. I had purchase thru Best Buy web site back in Oct when win 7 was released the home version. I just now got around to doing a install, guess I should of read the forums first. I have followed the instructions that were in the packaging on how to do the install, which seem easy. I went from Vista Ultimate to Win 7 Upgrade Home version, which I found out now you cannot do. I had to do a custom install which was fine with me, but after installation on my 300 GB HD I showed 155 of GB space used, how can this be I asked after this was to be a custom install and it should of wipe clean my HD. Well it did not, so I proceeded to reformat the HD and start over with XP install then upgrade with Win 7. Now that worked but now my system with Win 7 is so slow it takes 16 min from the time I push the pwr button to bring up the desktop. Plus once I do get to the desktop it take 60 sec to get online once I click on internet explorer. So please why is this OS so slow? Or what can I do to fix this? Or what did I do wrong? Plus Win 7 cant find all of my drivers either, especially my brand knew video card. Please any help here? Sorry had to explain all this from the beginning here. I do not want to go any further on working on my PC until I find a fix here. Please let me know any suggestions, ideas..etc etc..throw it out the window,,LOL..thx

Okay...

First, your question about the space is probably due to the fact that you (I'm assuming) performed and upgrade. Click Start Button > Computer > double click your C drive and see if you have a folder called Windows.old. If you do, then some of your hard drive space is taken up by that folder--which is your old operating system. Perform a Disk Cleanup to rid yourself of that folder and free up some space.

Second, did you install the motherboard chipset drivers for Windows 7? Not doing so will have an impact on system wide performance. As far as the other drivers you will need, more than likely you will be able to get them from the website of your motherboard maker.

Third, your videocard. www.amd.com and go to the spot on the screen for Driver Download.

And, as myzr7 stated, you should put your cpu back to its stock setting before installation.

1. It is important that you do a clean install - not an upgrade installation
2. If you have doubts about the disk usage run this program. I will tell you exactly what's on your disk. Win7 should not take more than 20GBs.
