Win 7 Default Taskbar

Ive been trying to figure out how to customize the default taskbar so its standard for all users on a computer. Not a fan of I.E. and by default it shows up as a quick launch icon for every account. I would like to replace it with firefox and add a few more helpful shortcuts that we use. Ive found where the files live

C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned

However thre is no such folder as "User Pinned" in the default folder. When I create the folder and add pins in there it does not implement them for other users. Can someone help point me in the right direction for what im trying to do? I would appreciate it very much.

Thanks in advance

Go to Control Panel> Programs and Features> Turn Windows features on or off (left side pane)> deselect "Internet Explorer 8". Open Firefox, goto tools> options> advanced> select "Always check if Firefox is my default browser". I only use one user account so I think you may have to repeat this process for each user. I hate I.E. 8 as well and I also lock my Firefox down with "PasswordProfile", and rename and hide my firefox folder to deter anyone but myself from using the internet when my machine is unlocked.

Thanks for the tip but that is not an option for me. I need to have I.E. available since there are some required sites that does not support any other browser. We have roughly 3000 users and roughly 500 machines. Doing it for each user is out of the questions since we syncing roaming app data is not an option.. Its a change id like to implement on our image. While it will leave I.E. available it will at least make Firefox the easiest option to select. Shooting for "out of sight out of mind".

Change the I.E. folder name and icon, do the same with the program itself and reimage. Before I used the steps outlined above this is what I did. For example Renamed IE "Alternate Access" with a generic globe icon.

Or just set the IE8 icons with the hidden attribute.
Even if you have all the options you have, set to "Show hidden files and folders" checked, unless they hunt down the folder you've mentioned they wont show in the Start Menu, the (self-added) Quick Launch etc..

Sadly, if they do "find" the shortcuts and run them, they can still be pinned to the taskbar. I'm trying to block that "option" at the mo.

No Joy. :(
