No, most likely the HD failed Win7. But run the two tests to completion to know for sure.

If it's factory preinstalled Win7 then its not a loss at all since that is the worst possible install of Win7 one can have. Now after replacing the HD if that's necessary you can get finally experience native Win7 perfect performance by doing a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. Everything you need is in the blue link.

Be sure to note the backup methods for after you get up and running so you don't lose your files again, and have a Win7 backup image stored externally to reimage the HD or its replacement in 20 minutes if it becomes irreparable again.

What are the results of the WD Extended test and Disk Check run from the installer or Repair CD's System Recovery Options Command Line on all partitions?

I cannot reinstall windows because I do not have my product key, so I have lost my copy of windows.

The product key will be on a sticker on the bottom if it hasnt worn off
