So this afternoon I suddenly could not click and drag anything on my desktop so I figured I'd reboot to clear it up. But upon restart, after putting in my pass word, the welcome screen appeared and never went away. I tried re booting in safe mode and it did the same thing, I I served the recovery disc that came with it and it still did it, I went in and made it so it boots from a CD, still didn't do anything, I even tried a recovery disc I made from my old comp which is basically the same as this one, a alien Ware area 51, with 6g mem. Win 7 pro, 64. It's just funny that the restore disc didn't even work. Any ideas?

I have had this issue once on an old laptop of mine. What you can try is if you can pull up cmd try running a chkdsk after i ran this it solved it no issues let me know how it goes

Thanks...I just got it fixed! Evidentially, there was a problem with my user account. so all we did was make a new one and then download everything off the server again then copy the files from my old account. For some reason, something wasn't loading on boot up, maybe a program or something but my buddy who's an IT guy, didn't have enough time to find it and see what it was doing (or not doing) because he had to go to work. Anyhow, its working again!
Thanks!!

No problem. Sounds to me like something must have gotten corrupt with the original user profile which is why it was hanging etc

yeah, I think that was the consensus... lol something went batty. It started because I was trying to click and drag a .PDF file into a folder on the desktop and it wouldn't drag... so I figured a re-boot would solve that issue...lol Nope!
