I wake my Win 7 HP system each morning without its internet connection. It lost it sometime during sleep. It reestablishes the connection without any help from me but it takes most of a minute sometimes for that to happen. My system is hardwired to the cable connection through the modem and router.

I have Googled the behavior and found many posts that suggest opening the device manager, selecting "Power Management" in the properties of the network adapter and unchecking the boxes that allow the adapter to be powered off during sleep. That is an elegantly simple solution but my Power Management properties do not contain such an option for my Intel 82575 DC Gigabyte Network Connection.

Are there other options available to correct this behavior which has only recently begun?

Perhaps a different / newer driver for the adapter?

Did you download any software or add any new hardware just before the problem started?

Have you tried System Restore? Try going back to a time before the problem started.

Could have a virus interfering with Internet connection. Be sure to run Anti-virus, Spyware, and Malware scans and remove any threats before running System Restore. Otherwise, if present, infection could spread into the restore files. Which could corrupt, delete, damage, or disable System Restore files.

You could try using Selective Startup in MSConfig to diagnose the issue. There may be a driver interfering with the Network Adapter.

Perhaps, Event Viewer may show a warning or error related to the issue.

The tech who builds all my systems returned my call this morning.

Seems it requires nothing more complicated than rebooting the Linksys EA4500 router. Did the Arris cable modem for good measure.

All is normal now.

Thanks

Just goes to show, when offering advice, start with the most basic and skip nothing.

Glad you were able to get your issue resolved.
