Win 7 on Ryzen PC

Hi folks,

I am interested in installing Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit on a Ryzen system. Here are the specs:

CPU: Ryzen 7 1700
Mobo: Asrock X370 Killer SLI
Storage: 64 GB Liteon Mu 3 6Gb/s SSD
RAM: 16 GB Kingston DDR4 [dual channel 2 X 8 single rank]
Installation medium: Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit Retail DVD [its an old copy, does not contain SP1]

Application: Single person gaming. The computer will never connect to the internet.

This is how I have done installation in the past:
1. Download SP1 and other essential updates using WUD
2. Use rt7lite to slipstream updates, essential drivers & remove unnecessary components/services
3. Build a modified bootable DVD for installation

Now coming to questions:
1. Win 7 is not officially supported on Ryzen. But I have 2 PS/2 slots on the mobo and necessary devices to boot. Will above method work?
2. What are the bare minimum Win 7 post SP1 updates required for Ryzen? Updates that I should stay away from?

You're aware of Win 7 with a Ryzen CPU.
I've never installed Win 7 on last AMD generation system. But you'll probably need to add USB 3.x and SATA drivers to the installation disk. If you have another HDD you can try to copy the drivers to it and when the installation ask for drivers on CD/DVD you browse to the HDD.

As you probably know, M$ is installing an update that prevents WU to work on win 7 with Ryzen. There is also a workaround. Unofficial Patch Unblocks Windows 7 and 8.1 Updates for Kaby Lake, Ryzen - ExtremeTech
