HP G7 2220 us laptop.I cannot figure out how to use Windows 8, I want to downgrade to Win7.

I have disabled secure boot and in legacy have the usb drive as boot nuber one boot drive.

I had formatted the disc using Rufus to make a GPT usb boot drive and used a digitalrive Win7+SP1(Media Refresh)iso file.

In the UEFI boot at startup(Esc then F9) I can see the USB drive and when I select it and click Enter this is what comes up:

Windows failed to start recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix problem :

1)Insert windows installation disk and restart pc
2)choose langue settings and click next
3)click repair your pc

How do I go by the installation of Win7.

Ps:I already have the bootx64.efi file in correct place on the flash drive. What does CSM mean and how do I enable it?

Please help.Thanks

I tried the step 11 that theog pointed out and when I looked in my USB the bootx64.efi was in the correct place to begin with.So What do I do now?

The Digital River ISO does not have the file in the right place for use on a USB Pen Drive.

You need to have a WIn7 license with Product Key to install Win7 legally. Do you have this?

If so can you burn the ISO to DVD to try install and save trouble?

I have used a DVD and it got stuck at the win 7 loader screen.
