I'm running Windows 7 Professional and I use Norton 360 for AV protection. Win 7 Pro has an XP emulator that allows running XP programs successfully.

I've just heard that MS will stop supporting XP security in April. My question is this: is my computer protected with Win 7 security (and MS updates) even though I'm running the XP emulator?

Thanks,
Walt

The Emulator is not XP, you are running Seven. Your protection, updates and all other benefits are tied to the Seven Schedule.

If by emulator you are referring to Windows XP Mode, that is a virtual machine running Windows XP. A virtual machine is effectively an independent computer in its own right and should be considered as such, so while your host Windows 7 system will still be supported and receive updates and patches, the install of Windows XP inside the virtual machine will cease to be supported in any way once XP reaches EOL in April much like a native Windows XP install on physical hardware.
