Win 7 pro x64 takes ages to shut down

Hi everybody,

I work in a office who is going to install new PC & laptop for their new infrastructure. I'm engaged to format and prepare the machines.

All the pc's are fine but ours laptops takes ages to shutdown, staying at the wallpaper (explorer.exe close) for at least 5 minutes. The log off screen is ok. This is happening since we activate the BitLocker crypting.

As I know the users, they will freak out if their laptop does not shutdown immediately.Does any one have a solution?

I believe that there may be a choke point in the system that is slowing down the shutdown process, whether it be a slow hardware component, or a service that is taking too long to close down. What are the system specs on your laptops?

Core I5 and other stuff. One laptop cost 1.3k € excluding VAT.

Is it a large hard drive with quite a bit of information on it? It sounds like bitlocker is taking up time to encrypt before shutdown. There might be a way to disable this in settings, but I am not very familiar with bitlocker.

It looks like it's our anti-virus software (Symantec Endpoint Proection) that block the shut down process...
