Hey guys, new to Win 7 and it hasn't been kind to me!

Got a new ACER ASPIRE ONE 532H-2DB ATOM N450 a couple of days ago, and installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32. Everything is working perfectly except for the wireless, which remains erratic, and only works occasionally. I need help in identifying if it's a router problem, Win 7 problem, or laptop problem.

Symptoms are as follows:
-Ethernet works perfectly.
-When opening the wifi connections, very occasionally it lists all the hotspots in the area (about half a dozen), and I can connect to mine, apparently when I don't set WEP or WPA security.
-The rest of the time the taskbar wireless icon says "Not connected. No connections are available. Troubleshoot... etc,"
-In Device Manager is says for Atheros AR5B95 Wireless Network Adapter that it is working.
-I have downloaded and installed the latest network drivers... a number of times!
-I've spent at least ten hours fiddly and asking other people for help, and have gotten no further.

Help!

What router? Are you using homegroup, or workgroup?

The router is a D-Link DVA-G3340S set up with WEP security.

On the HomeGroup page it says "This computer can't connect to a homegroup", "Before you create or join a homegroup, you must first connect to a network".

When I click on Connect, it says "Not connected", "No connections are available".

Oddly, when I started it up before from hibernation, I could surf the net through my router just fine for about 5 minutes (and see other hotspots), and then it went back to "No connections are available". This suggests to me the configuration is right, but something else is amiss.

Also, I have set up a workgroup which is the same as on my XP desktop.
