Hello guys, I'm trying to re-install win 7 ultimate on my HP Pavilion m9510f. The set-up is the same except that I changed the HDD to a Seagate Barracuda 1Tb. I also change to the default BIOS, I'm not sure if my old Win installation was using them or not. When I try to install Win 7 with the default RAID controller mode, I was able to see the partitions one time after turning it on and off a few times and delete them and when I try to create a new one, the installation cannot find the SSD driver and since then it always gives me that error. When I tried to install with AHCI controller mode since I will be using only one HDD I can see the unallocated space but when I try to create a new partition It says Windows cannot be installed to this disc.

Any help is appreciated, thank you in advance.

Hello dancue31 and Welcome to our Forum :)

Have you tried with only the SSD connected?

I only have one HDD connected and the DVD Writer that I need to install windows. Nothing except the keyboard and monitor is connected to the computer.

Update: I try to install the SATA driver using the RAID controller mode but it only recognize my USB once and the .exe driver was not found.

Sorry, was out shopping...
An .exe will not be recognized during that step.

According to the information about the mainboard available at HP, you have the Intel ICH9R chipset.
Try this driver on the top of the list here
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/20768

Extract the content on a USB (not inside a folder) and use the "Install additional drivers" option to point there.

I just tried to install the driver and It looked like it tried to load for a second and then it says that its not the correct driver.

I did try last night to create a partition using commands but when I try to reformat or skip formatting and just create the partition. I got an error saying something like I|0 device error. I suspected my HDD was going bad but I was hoping that I could fix this problem at least until I can buy a new one.:(

I don't think there is a possible way to tell or change because I cannot find anywhere in the BIOS setup any of the terms you pointed out in the last post. I found out that both DVD writer and HDD use the UDMA 5 transfer mode I'm not sure if that's related to UEFI or not, but I cannot change the transfer mode. I found an SMART short-test option when I enter the HDD options so I decided to see what it does and it came with something like completed with the read element of the test failed, this happened after 7 secs of the test.

Disable uefi boot enable legacy boot, make sure the drive is setup as a MBR partition.

You don`t need an ssd driver, you have a bad install dvd/usb.

It sounds like you don't have a UEFI BIOS.

If you ran the SMART test on hard drive and it failed, I'd confirm this with the maker's HD Diagnostic
extended CD scan, followed by a full Disk Check. It sounds like the disk may be failing.

If SMART failed, this is it.
With all due respect to fellow members, this is over- no solution but replacement of the HDD.

Thank you everyone for your help and time. The new HDD just arrived minutes ago and I'm currently installing win8. I got past where do you want to install window on the first try. I knew the HDD was failing because I've seen this kind of behavior before in my older system. But I was hoping that I could have got it working for at least another month since a new HDD wasn't on the budget.
