I have two separate OS systems (XP pro and Win 7 pro 32 bit) on separate hard drives. Restore points are created on both systems. No problem with XP. I have presently 20% of the 500GB drive reserved for restore points in Win 7. I am only monitoring Win 7 on the Win 7 drive and only XP on the XP drive. No files are on the Win 7 drive- only the OS and programs. Win 7 works fine and keeps the restore points. However if I boot up XP pro and then boot up Win 7 pro I find that all of the restore points that had been listed in Win 7 have been deleted. How do I fix this problem?
Hiding the Vista or 7 primary from XP was the main method used since this was first seen as a problem with the previous version when dual booting. Once the newer version's partition was hidden from XP the restore points made by the newer version were uneffected when booting into the older XP.
In order to protect the Vista restore points from an XP/Vista dual boot a new utility project was started but abandoned for actually seeing the Vista primary hidden and the restore points preserved. Unfortunately this was never finished but could have been updated for 7 if it had. [Download] Vista Hide 'n Seek BETA - The NeoSmart Forums
