This is a fresh install and I have Indexing enabled for the Entire root drive and have not altered any settings for Windows Search functions.

Example is file extension .fdb (It's a legacy database file), I have hundreds of this is several locations that I cannot recall all locations so I'm trying to use Search.

The OS is exactly named "Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium"

What is going on?
What could be something to check?
Is their some setting I've missed?
Is their any info from MSFT? Registry settings?

I'm embarrassed because I've owned a computer since 1983

Use another search tool such as Everything from Voidtools.com. It works very well and is very fast. The only shortcoming is that it does not search file contents, only file names and extensions.

I gave up entirely on Windows Search and indexing.

I gave up entirely on Windows Search and indexing.

REBUILD-I found it in control panel under Indexing Options. It took under 60 minutes and I now can search easily as I did in XP and VISTA

I'm glad I found an answer to my question so soon

The W7 search is easy to use, but you must have allowed the OS time to index your entire computer foremost... :)

NO!

It's been installed since OCT 25th, plenty of time for indexing.
Even 72 Hours is enough time to index on a SSD drive.

REBUILD was my solution to this issue, I never changed anything to cause this to happen.
This was never an issue with vista xp or

Sorry, I wasn't speculating. I was talking in hard facts... ;)

You must have had indexing disabled, and that isn't the default setting which means something you did must have caused your issues... :p
